We're planning on taking around £100 for each week, Marcus is right food and drink is pretty cheap when you're eating out, the only other thing we will have to pay for is petrol for the cars but last year we only filled up twice, once during the week and the other was when we had to return the car. I was thinking that anything left in the kity at the end of the week we will divide it between everyone.

The only other thing that we will have to spend out on is the accident waiver fee. I had emailed through to me, from the car hire company, was a reminder from them that if I didn't want to pay several tens of thousands, if we have an accident, we will need to pay 20euros each for this waiver, this is payable when we collect the cars.

As for the wind they've had about 40knots almost everyday for the last 4 months. If u look on wind guru there is no wind forecast, this is because, a) the meter is situated in the city and b) it works off thermals, picks up nicely by about lunchtime.

windguru will give you a pointer . if it's fcast n or nw then it will blow from about 11 am the german windsurfers call it the wind machine !
when I was there in august I went and found the weather station that wind reports come from
I left beach was nearly 40 kts at weather station only 1 mile inland . nothing . back to beach still windy !the only meter with checking is the viana locals one as that is on the lighthouse on breakwater. Smile

I keep getting asked if Alun can take extra gear for people NO he cannot!!

He is maxed out with kit already and he has to sleep in the van whilst travelling there and back also.
If you need to take extra kit your goning to have to book on extra kilo's

Sorry to keep going on about this but...

Just one other note, Alun will be picking a load of us up from the Airport so he will also need space to stash everyone's kit back and for from the airport to the villa. His van will be one of 4 vehicles we will use there, each vehicle will be full to the max as it is without extra gear being taken down for others.

Soooo

Alunj will be picking up 6 people from the airport so that's 12 lots of luggage plus kites and boards of his own plus some 5's and 7's of Blast's foryou lot to hire if real windy so Please stop asking for Alun to take kit down!

not sure if this will help with anyones packing but i recently used easy jet to travel to cyprus kiting. I took one mystic gearbox (150) with 1x board 1x 7m 1x9m 1x12m 1x bar&lines, harness, helmet, impact vest, shortie, board shorts & rashies etc and my wash kit.... it weighed in at 32.8kgs which was fine. then I bought a hold bag that met the easy jet criteria and filled that with ALL my clothes.... purfect ;-) By the sounds of things i will probably not need to take the 12m... so will have a few kgs to spare.... maybe another board instead ;-)
hope that helps ;-)
Having never been to portugal and after reading the posts can i safely leave my 12m at home or is it still worth taking it ?
can't wait getting EXCITED :-) xx

Hi,

Practical question now...

Are towels provided in the villa or will we need to take our own? Just thinking about packing and luggage allowance... Smile I don't mean beach towels...

Hi,

I'm guessing most people will be heading to the airport from Wales but if anyone needs a lift from the Midlands area for the 2nd week then I'm more than happy to pick you up (I'll be jumping on at Warwick > M40 > M25 > M23). My car is booked into secure parking for the week!

Let me know... Smile

Just some info that the girls may be more interested in, the villa has a washing machine so for us that are staying 2 weeks this may help with packing.

I've also just been informed about the new tolls that have been put along the motorway from the airport to the villa. We are not sure of how much this will be, but just so everyone is aware that we will obviously have to pay for this aswell. We are pretty sure that there is no toll charge between the villa and the beaches that we use so, we believe it'll just be if we go further afield.

Anyone going on the minibus for the 2nd week don't forget to arrange to get to the meeting points on time, pick up places have been mentioned before. The collection address for Porthcawl is Mark W house so please contact him.

Just spoke to a mate who is already down in Viana and they had 40mph again today!!
He had to wait for the wind to die down later in pm and he is a very experienced kiter.
Shocked

Those of you arriving next week might be pleased to hear there is free wifi. The signal does not reach all throughout the villa but when you do get a decent signal it seems quite fast. It appears to be a public wifi for the village and is called 'Barrio Digital'.

Hmm
my posts don't appear to have worked that I did over past few days.

Anyway, had two days and two great days of wind so far and today is forecast to be real windy and for tge rest of the week too
had flat water to begin with yesterday and I mean flaaat then as tide dropped we had a nice wave start to build but the difference here is tge wind is cross shore with huge gaps between the waves so still epic for non wave lovers

the Vila is amazing!!
