Let me put it this way, my GPS watch says I need 120hours rest after todays ride!

Plus, I also had a huge off and by all accounts I was extremely lucky to be able to walk away from it....and this was from a guy who has been involved in DH mtb for the past 20 years plus

Thanks for joining us guys. Makes all the difference when you have a good group to go with, and everyone made it around so a good achievement. Even if I was called a toad at one point by Alun. A fair few long rides for me coming up in the next 9 weeks, as I need to hit the 50km mark but a few rides will be at Afan etc linking rides together. plus still need to keep it fun.

Some people do have naturally high heart rates so maybe you are one of those. If you're actually worried you need to establish your max heart rate, you need to max out on your bike for this. Find a hill, cycle up it at a fast pace and cycle down twice, on the 3rd climb give it everything you can, assuming that you've given it 100% you will have reached your max heart rate. It's worth noting that whilst you are unlikely to actually give yourself a heart attack but it is possibility so if you have any weakness or family history of heart conditions then this is obviously not advisable.

I do think your figures look high so it could be an issue with the equipment, HR monitors are notoriously temperamental. My Forerunner 920XT is considered the best watch on the market and it often spikes and drops out whilst I'm exercising and needs the HR band replacing every 6 months or so.
