Another spin around Whytes this am...it was pretty empty there but even gloopier than Sunday and no sun!!

Did it in just under two hours though (Sarah's pace) so pleased with that. Forgot to switch the watch off at the carpark at the end and only realised when we got home - I didn't think I'd hit 100kph!!

Interesting to see my heart rate up and down so much...the downs were when waiting for S and any flatter or downhill sections

Heart rate is only relevant when you know your maximum heart rate Alun.

Ooh must try harder! I'm not really pushing myself on these rides, may do another of these routes on my own and see what it shows,

then again I may have a cardiac! Laughing

It's difficult to establish max heart rate without going to a sports clinic, there are some basic calculations that you can do like 220 minus your age but this is only an estimate. If you think your max heart rate is 185 it's unlikely that you could average 170 for 3 hours tbh. Also bear in mind that heart rate monitors can be erratic, they get affected by sweat build up, positioning and often don't work when it's cold. If you really want to get into heart rate training look into a workout that can establish your max HR, don't forget that your max heart rate will differ on the bike to your max HR when you're running. Be careful though because you are going to push your heart to it's absolute limit and this can have obvious serious consequences.

220 - my age is 169 ! I don't take the thing as gospel tbh it's just interesting .

My doc has seen a few of the traces and he is quite surprised I am still alive !
