I think the SUP was a very wise investment [and a gap in my own toy box] - letter to santa in the post.

Loving mine at the moment. Just gone from a 9'1 down to an 8'1 wave board. It's like a different sport, it's a lot easier to stay up on a shorter board with less volume than I had anticipated and it kills it in the waves.

Is anybody else thinking Friday looks promising? I know it's a few days away, but there's no point me planning anything if no one else can come out to play..

Tomorrow looks good to me: 25mph easterly all day, high tide at 10am in Porthcawl, no rain... Are others still game on?

Anyone know how long after high tide before Coney becomes usable, or is it OK all the time? Is an easterly breeze alright to go out in?

Fingers crossed Very Happy

Alex/ lou,, yeah tomorrow looks pretty good, Easterly at Coney is cross shore and wind will be more cleaner towards low tide when it clears the rocks. There will be good beach space 1-2 hrs after HT..
Im prob gonna head down for 1100, grab a coffee and score a few hours out.

So we have lots of super keen newbies around now, couple of points to remember as we get into the winter season..

Cold
Its getting colder, your gonna need -
5mm winter suit, worst months tend to be Jan / Feb. Wind chill can be biting, most will wear some kind of windstopper top or neoprene jacket to block it out.

Boots / gloves -
boots, 4-5mm, gloves 1.5 - 3mm, thicker gloves will tire your forearms out and less dexterity so try some out

Conditions
Wind is typically stronger in the winter months, I have spent whole seasons before now on nothing bigger than a 7m, this is where you start to build up your quiver of kites.
Conditions can change in an instant, huge gusts, changes in direction squalls, rain, hail thunder and lightning we have had it all, be aware of changing weather fronts and come in if needed.

Kit/gear
Make sure your gear is up to the winter, check your canopy for any tears/pinholes and sort them, ensure bladders hold air properly, check for any worn damaged bridles and pulleys and replace if required.
Check your flying lines for damage and check and operate your quick release prior to riding.

Carry a knife, you may have to cut yourself or others out of line spaghetti.

All that being said we have some great sessions in the Winter, all your winter rubber goods etc requirements are available from team Blast
Give us a shout for any advice..

The wind didn't play ball today, but for me, at this stage, any practice is better than nothing.

Two lessons learnt: don't believe the forecast (even on the day), and even a bad day at the beach is better than a good day in the office.

With the continued wind drought Wendy and I are planning a bike around afan today. Start at Rhyslyn, up the railway to Glyncorwg, whites level as far as energy , W2 link top of the wall and back down to Rhyslyn. Probably start about 11 if anyone fancies it
