Do any of the experienced kiters have any tips to hand on with keeping 5 line kites lines tangle free when stowing away. Does it work to clip the line ends together, either as pairs and one free or all 5 clipped together?

You don't need to do anything different with 5 lines than you do with 4. As Marc says you could get rid of the 5th line if it's just a safety line as it is on some kites and use a different safety system, mine flies in a very strange way without it though as it's a mini bridal....

4 vs 5 line kite debate is probably as old as the sport itself. 4 line enthusiasts will claim that the 5 line kite will bow tie itself if it's dropped in waves although I've never seen or experienced it. 5 line enthusiasts will claim the 5th line safety system is a lot safer than a 4 which is my experience. I definitely know which system I'd like to use when self landing in 40 knots!

Thanks James, I have heard that you are " Mr North" so your views are valued. Its a Rebel so when North say it has "a loaded 5th line" I'm guessing its important, so probably won't take the scissors to it. As you say the opinions as to the for's and against's seem's to be an issue that people take definite views on

It's not really about a brand because I'd opt for a 5 line kite regardless, it's the reason that I originally bought a Rebel. There are lots of great kites out there on 4 lines it's just personal choice.

The Rebel has to be flown on 5 lines so definitely do not take a pair of scissors to it!

Going back to the lines being tangle free. If you use one of these then you will never have to sort out your lines again. I loved mine until I lost it!

I'm really not wound up Marc, I'm not sure how you got to that conclusion. It's just a discussion which I thought was what a forum is all about. Actually don't you stock a few 5 line kites yourself!? Very Happy

You seem to be a bit obsessed with me Sonny. Whilst I find it flattering I should tell you that I don't enjoy the company of other men in the way that you probably do.
