PostSubject: Height Restrictions at Aberavon   Thu Jul 10, 2014 10:05 am

Hi *******

I spoke to you a couple of days ago about the height barrier at Aberavon.  I have been in touch with a couple of local councillors about it but they are saying that without more complaints to them they can't take it forward.

Therefore it would be great if yourselves, and as many other people as possible, maybe put a note on the forum, could email councillor Suzanne Paddison on - cllr.s.paddison@npt.gov.uk  to make a complaint.

Many thanks

Hi Suzzane,

I'm writing to you today in respect of the new car park at the west end of Aberavon beach front. I'm sure you know which one, it's next to the new Pensioners development.

I must say that I'm very impressed. The car park is spacious and well designed. There are more than sufficient bays to accommodate the parking requirements of even the busiest day at Aberavon. Well done to the council!

My only concern is that there now appears to be a height restriction barrier placed at the entrance to the car-park. Many of the visitors to Aberavon beach, by nature of their outdoor interests, have invested in converted vans and recreational vehicles. As I'm sure you're aware, these tend to be far taller than regular vehicles and many visitors are finding that their access to the car-park is now being obstructed.

I'm sure it's not the councils intention to prevent outdoor venturers parking at this spot, as the attraction of visitors provides a valuable income to the area. I do hope that you can perhaps, persuade he council that the car-park would be far more beneficial and practical without the barrier.

I look forward to hearing your response in this matter.

Best regards

Steve Porteous

Hello Suzanne. I am a regular user of the beach at Aberafon being a keen out door enthusiast and fisherman. I have been pleasantly surprised by the speed of the completion of the car park next to the new complex. The old car park was inadequate in size and was very poor quality. I am however prevented from using the new car park due to the addition of a height restriction barrier placed at the entrance. There was no such restriction on the previous car park and I do not understand why this is necessary at the new one. I wish to raise a complaint regarding its placement that appears to have been added without any consideration for the users of the area. I look forward to your reply

Hello Suzanne

I am an owner of converted VW van and unfortunately I can no longer access the very smart and functional new car park on the beach front. I would not want to park in front of the residents houses in that area, so I would greatly appreciate it if the barrier could be removed please.

Many thanks for your consideration of this request.

Hello, I’ve been on annual leave for 2 weeks so only now reading your email. I will look into the matter, if my colleagues have not already done so for you.
