PostSubject: Hadlow Leaving Flexifoil   Tue Mar 25, 2014 1:03 pm

So if it's true and it increasingly looks that way, where does that leave Flexi? First of all they slashed there UK and International team which used to be pretty impressive and now it looks like Hadlow will be doing something in conjunction with North.

Each year for as long as I can remember they sell of kites at 50% off or more, not the sign of a successful business in my opinion, it also destroys the secondhand value of the Flexi kites and it's image too. Don't get me wrong I hope they are strong and continue to produce kites, it's great to have a brand based in the UK and I was one of the very first to stock Flexifoil LEI kites back around 2002 ish I think.

For the moment it looks like Aaron will continue to develop his own model with just Red Bull on it and later next season probably add the branding?

Thoughts?

Took this in Dakhla last week...

Why is there a spaceman in the background?

Or was it a fireman?

I can see 'red bull kites ... Developed with Aaron hadlow ... Made by North' ... North are so huge I don't think they necessarily need hadlow on the team as such, they would get sales off the back of hadlow producing a kite with help from them.
As for flexi it's a shame to see it all go downhill over the years for the brand as it got me and a lot of others into the sport but with giants such as north around I can't see them ever being a successful producer of kitesurfing equipment again.

Yup I think you have summed it up nicely tbh and that would make perfect sense.
There is so much change happening right now in the industry.

It will also be interesting to see what happens with Lou leaving Wainman and how Best manages in the future after spending so much buying up so many pro riders - not a guaranteed return in sales imho

The industry is in a bit of a mess and funnily enough there are only a minority (including epic!) going about things in the right way. Unfortunately it seems to be our English friends with online businesses, too much money and not enough forward thinking that are making it rubbish for everyone.

I hope Flexifoil aren't in real trouble, I've had 6 of their kites over the years and couldn't fault the build quality and performance from them. I'll be sad to see them go down the toilet, and respect to Hadlow for sticking with them so far.
