Can't say I've noticed any degradation of the kite control during rain. Light, med. heavy or hail.
Hail does hurt ya head tho'. Last hail storm I was in, I had to stop and cover my head with my hand because it was really smashing down. Never lasts for long tho'

Like Alun says, heavy rain stings ya face

As do most people:)

When you have showers push through, it's ok. but if it's raining all day long and I have a choice, I would rather not

The thing that sucks most about kiting in rain is the soaking wet kites covered in sand...that also then weigh a ton!

Plus the van/car get full of wet sandy gear also.

yeah, drying them out can be a PITA No

We have been known to lay them out in our lounge, or in the garage if really soaked

It's not too bad with showers rushing through as you get to dry them by flying them. But as Marc says, wet sand is always going to hang on

I know people who do kite in rain, a session is a session. For me it depends on when the last session was, how big a kite I'm on and whether I CBA to have the hassle of a soaking wet kite to dry out. For me it's going to include the GF's kite as well.
In Marc's case it a few more Wink

it's a personal preference

I've also got kites hanging up to dry at the moment !
Be careful too with new kites , sometimes the dye runs !
