PostSubject: Seat vs Waist Harness ?   Tue Jul 16, 2013 7:30 am

Hello i know that as a beginner i should use seat harness , because the hook point is always low , so that helps to control the kite , also when you learning the body drags your bar always stay low witch gives you better control  .
I never try the waist harness but heard some of them tend to go up to your rib cage .
Is the new waist harnesses are stable and stay always at waist point ?
As a beginner is it alright to start with waist harness or better seat  ?
What models of harnesses would you recommend .. ?

Thanks Smile

My advice would be to stick with your seat harness for the time being...it not only stops the hook from rising up but more importantly allows you to "sit" back into it which enables you to edge the board more effectively.

Practically every school will use seat harness's.....for a reason!

There are many advantages to the seat harness and very few for the waist harness (but they do look cooler) Cool

I still use a seat harness after two years and hasn't stopped me from trying anything, just about to change to a waist harness when I get round to it, will be glad to see the nappy look go Laughing Laughing

With the 'right' kind of seat harness, you don't get the 'nappy' look
for instance Dakine short harness, ION short harness, Ocean Rodeo Session harness is a waist harness that has removable leg straps (the straps help hold the harness down and limiting the rise you get with a waist)

Waist harness might look cooler, but as Marc says, there are many advantages for a seat over a waist

Don't be too quick in getting a waist

Blankforce have a sweet waist/seat harness I've had one for quite a few years now...still wear it occasionally (as a waist now) and still use it in the school.
To be fair the newer Mystic seat harness's are pretty discreet compared to ones we used many years ago like the Dakine Fushion etc

The Supporter and Fushion are of the "larger" type of seat harness probably not what you are looking for and deffo more nappy like.

Yes we have most Mystic harness's instock including the Aviator and the Force Shield (better than the Aviator)
