Hi

Sorry, no not visited Boa, only Sao Vicente

I hear it can get big down there, wind is just as good as Sao, maybe more?

You should have fun, the locals stare a lot. But they are pretty friendly, esp. if you speak a little portugese. Just the basics will help
Food \ living is cheap on Sao Vicente. I understand Boa & Sal are very tourist driven, so things are meant to be more expensive
a few beggars, only targetting white people. You are seen as a free money machine

Don't drink the tap water, bottled water is cheap

A few Tiger sharks around the islands

All I can say is E N J O Y
You'll have a good memorable time

very jealous . . .

Wind is pretty reliable, or was at Sao
No idea on kite sizes for Boa, Sao did have a couple of light days. we took 8, 9, 12, 14 between the two of us, we used all of them, she was even on the 14 a couple of times in the morning before the wind got up to fat man strength Laughing
I had 3 or 4 good sessions on the 9 Wave
You might want to put an 11 in as well

Have had friends go to Sal & or Boa and not had such good winds during their stay
Same as every where really

We've been twice, last year we had 10 out of 10 days wind. This year we had 7 out of 9 days. When we left, there was no wind for the following week, which is rare, but does happen. The week before we got there, it was good strong wind

Awesome area, would happily go again.

Bear in mind it is a 3rd world country

One more thing, the locals will say it's cold and be wearing full suits.

We only took shorties, as did the other europeans

The wind does have a cold feel to it, but once riding and wearing an impact vest we were plenty warm

Hmm, thanks for that...I was just going to take a thermal vest and neoprene shorts?

Excellent info above mate, not sure on kite sizes as I never use bigger than a 9m for wave riding?

You might get away with the thermal rash etc.
basically it's the same temps as our summers, 23 degrees, not to hot, not too cold
Wind chill . . .

The local guy on Sao would only fly a 10m Reo, same weight as me, I would be on a 12 VX
Obviously my power needs were different as we were on TT's
I got him to try the wave and he thought it was powerful.

maybe make the judgement the day before? windguru was pretty spot on for forecasts at Sao

But if a 9 is your biggest for waves, then, best stick with that

Yup Reo's are generally way less power than everything else available!

Obvioulsy I have bigger available 11/13m Renegades and also the Infinity but I hardly ever use bigger than the 9m with the surfboard.

Think I'll stick with rash vest too, it's the Mystic Metalite one so not a usual rashie Wink

Haha, nothing amazing I'm afraid!

Big swell was fast disappearing when we arrived, it had been 4m!!

We were mostly on 9m with surfboards, had one stonking day on 7m, swell was around 3-4ft and we had hired a 4x4 which was just as well as the best winds were a half hour away....we had the beach to ourselves...two of us, and a few days three of us!
