That happened at weston last weekend, was it the same guy?

Depower rope snapped, due to the force created it also took out the bungy rope. Not good

Was a Rally
Rides a C1 ?

He had a spare bar he could use?
He knew the rope was worn, but was struggling in finding stock to replace it?

I usually keep rope fro most bars and can repair them for you .
Always replace the rope once is starts to go fluffy ! it weakens very quickly after that and can go pretty quickly. If you are doing it yourself you should use AMSTEEL or VECTRAN pre-stretched dynemma rope. Expect to pay at least 7-8 quid a meter for the rope.
If you dont want to do it your self i can do them for a small fee Wink

He was really lucky the kite drifted into mine when I was walking up the beach to the launch area. I pulled the emergency when the his line tangled mine. Both dropped to the beach and both kites where caught by fellow kiters.

I had a bit of a panic as I am still learning the sport and threre is not much written on what to do if a rouge kite with out kiter attached dropped into your lines with bar attached.

No rroblems though all was ok and went back out later when the crowd had died down a bit

Hi guys,
any chance someone could post a picture of what part of the rope system we are talking about here to save confusion with some of us less experienced kiters. Particularly as we often buy second hand kit to be able to get into this great sport. some of the bar systems can get a bit complicated down at the bar/depower area and oftem it seems that the parts are not readily available to replace.

Always trying to be safe as possible rather than learning the hard way.

Cheers

All kite bar systems have one thing in common .
The two front lines from the kite come together and connect via a strap/cleat
And then go to the loop you put your harness into.
These are the main lines and the strap/cleat is the system that adjusts te power hence depower strap .
You shoyd carefully check all of your lines but this line that goes through the hole in the bar is most prone to wear . Keep an eye.
Message me if you need it fixed .

Thanks Alun, will check mine over this weekend as both are secondhand bars but not particularly used but the one bar is a 2008 Best bar.

Would the lines deteriorate with age if not particularly used as this would not be as visually apprent as a bar that was used daily say.

Not really all of the rope is treated with a uv screen
If they had been left in the sun for months maybe but dynemma is very uv resistant.
If its fluffy or frayed replace it
