Hi My name is Chris Tovey

Yes related to the Mike Tovey.

Started watersports with surfing when Rest Bay could be surffed with next to no one on the beach, wetsuits came in 2 parts with had a flap between your legs and the zip was on the front of the suit even when then they became one piece.

Moved onto windsurfing when I found out it was less effort to get beyond the shore break. This was about the time Mike arrived on the scene so travel to weston was a good venue a short drive from Bristol .That is if you can ignore the colour of the water and the need for a table numbers to ensure you can walk to the sea and launch with out sinking to your knees in the mud.

Have spent over 30 years windsurfing and with a change in life style decided to take up kite surfing with Mike and my son in law both of them doing well

Did the kite surfing lessons, but Progress for me has been slow with equipment supplied not being correct and some dodgy advice. But I am not giving up.

We need to find a alternative beach for when the tides out in weston has water during daylight hours and one which has enough space for 3 new starters.

Welcome to our forum Chris, not too keen on the sound of your dodgy gear and advice, you're welcome on our beaches but please don't jeopardise everyone's freedom on them with your gear lol :-)

Our beaches are big enough to cope with 3 new comers and we've very lucky to have such a great bunch of kiters in this area that are always willing to help each other out and enjoy a warm up over a hot chocolate in the local cafe, after a freezing cold session this time of year.

Hopefully meet u soon down the beach :-)

Hi thanks for the invite.
The dodgy gear was new and supplied by a well known European Brand. The lines supplied where the wrong length which meant when the depower was taken off the kite was still fully depowered and would not fly. The kite itself also failed . I would not have minded but my son in law also bought the same kit at the same time and the lines where wrong and the kite failed in the same place.
