PostSubject: Portugal Trip 2012   Sat Dec 10, 2011 6:40 pm

It's that time of year again where we're starting to organise our regular trip to one of our favourite places, North Portugal!! Last year was a great success, great people, great kiting and an amazing villa!

The dates are going to be 16th -23rd June and 23rd -30th June.

Anyone is welcome to come for 1 week or 2, just let us know which week you want to come. The prices are going to be APPROX at the moment as it depends on the price of the flights at the time of booking.
Sorry guys it's more than last year coz of the cost of the flights.

1 week £570
2 weeks £765

This price includes flight (including your kite gear), luxury accommodation, food, car hire (including the accident waiver) and great company.

We will require a £75 deposit per person, per week you wish to come.

Check the link out for photos of our previous trips

http://www.flickr.com/photos/alunjuk/sets/72157624249612427/with/4741643886/

This is the Villa we stayed in last year and we are hoping to be able to book this one again. It is a 17 person villa so the price will also only stand as long as we fill it.

More photo's from last year here:

http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150308997516294.384046.220023371293&type=1

http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150309210001294.384129.220023371293&type=1

This is our favourite spot for many reasons, warm, windy, flat water, waves, scenery, and price!!

Also, remember this is suitable for partners too.

Right, lots of interest and have at least 8 deffo's...but if you in the slightest bit interested let us know because we are trying to work out which size villa is best to go for.

Choice will be between 9 or 17 people villa but we need to know rough numbers before we can commit to either. Obviuosly no problem filling the smaller one but do we go for the king size one? Very Happy

So...practical information please
What's the sea temp like? Shorty wetsuit or boardshorts/rashy?
I've only got a 7.5 and 9.5 so will this be sufficient? (moot point really as no cash to spring on a bigger kite anyway)

I'm very excited bounce

Shorty wetsuit, I lived in my 3/4 leg mystic last year. If the wind is good then a 7.5 will be more than adequate!
You are very unlikely to need a bigger kite. The Germans call the spot the Wind machine !

Yup as AJ says you should be fine on the two kites you have.

It is the Atlantic so the water is pretty cool but a 3/2mm full suit is ideal or even a shroty if the weather is hot as it should be.

Nice one, we can order in most things that are on the Mystic Kiteboarding website, so if it's not on our website just let us know.

We've had quite a few requests from the ladies for kit to be added ;-)

Are there any plans for car-sharing etc?
I'm happy to drive but with luggage I'd only fit one person in as I've got a small car, but I'd be glad to pitch in if someone's got a bigger car and therefore more eco-friendly

I assume were talking about travel to Gatwick?
I'll probably drive down with Ray (Harry's mate #2) from Birmingham. We may be able to squeeze another one in, if anybody else is from these parts...
Shout out, if you think that is you...

We are flying with Easyjet.

The weight allowance is 32kg for everything, ie suitcase and board bag. You can have just your board bag with, everything in, but it mustn't weigh any more than 32kg, or you can have a suitcase and boardbag at a combined weight of 32kg.

Your hand luggage has no weight limit, the a size limit of 56 x 45 x 25. You are only allowed 1 piece of hand baggage, ie nothing extra as in, camera bags, no handbags. They are very strict on this and if you can't fit everything in one bag they will charge you.

Also remember, the price of the holiday DOES NOT include booze so if you want to buy duty free in the airport, this isn't included in your hand baggage restriction.

Does all that make sense?

After much deliberation we have decided to go for the more modern villa with a pool, it is brand new for this year, it's just been refurbished so we have to look after it.

Quite simple really, what you take in kites you loose in clothes, just wear as much as you can on the plane! (saying that; i'll draw the line at a wetsuit though)

Well, we all done and booked. The only extra that we have to pay, as I was kindly reminded by the car rental company is £23(for people on 1 week) £43(for people on 2 weeks) for the extra insurance waiver. People can either pay £'s now or in euros when we get there as I have to pay the bill when we pick up the cars. This price also includes a free extra driver if anyone would like to drive, don't forget your driving liscence.
It'll b time to pack b4 we know it. :-)

Hi folks

Anyone got any info/adice on personal insurance for this please, started doing some trawling but there's so many different permatations. Such as some cover £2000 bagage but only £500 an item, some cover kitesurfing but public liability only not personal injury?

Just a few things I've been meaning to put up for a while. The water is fairly cold as it is the Atlantic affraid You will need a full summer wettie

http://www.blastkiteboarding.co.uk/index.php?_a=viewCat&catId=103

and for the girls

http://www.blastkiteboarding.co.uk/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=455

we tend to wear the three quarter leg

http://www.blastkiteboarding.co.uk/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=349

Other things that you might need are

water glasses

http://www.blastkiteboarding.co.uk/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=129

Kite First Aid kit
http://www.blastkiteboarding.co.uk/index.php?_a=viewCat&catId=69

There is NOT wifi at the villa so, unfortunately, you'll have to sort something out.

We will need 1 more driver for the 1st week so please someone bring your drivers liscence.
Not long now, we can't wait!!

Please also remember the extra money I need for the insurance waiver, I'm sure no one wants to pay £10,000+ if we had an accident. Very Happy
