Hi all,

Looking for some information on the beaches between Port Talbot and Carmarthen.

I am currently commuting along the M4 to / from port Talbot station to Carmarthen, so trying to work out which beaches offer the best chance of getting an after work session in now the clocks are changing.

Moved to Wales at the end of last year, and barring a few sessions at the end of October, I've not been out since then (though been landboarding a fair bit lately).

Considering the time of day I will be travelling, getting to Swansea or out to Oxwich Bay is probably going to add too much time to my journey to be realistic (not ruling them out though).

What is the score with LLanelli / Pembrey etc?

Any info much appreciated.

Cheers,
Joe

I'm no expert on this but this is just how I understand it.

No problems regarding kitesurf at either Pembrey or Llanelli.
Pembrey has a nice lagoon at low tide but works all tides. Llanelli only works 2 hours either side of high tide so a lot more restrictec.

You are not allowed to kite with "wheels" Pembrey beach which is run by CLSC (Carmarthenshire Land Sailing Club http://www.clscuk.com ) unless you join their club, so often that will mean you having two lots of insurance, theirs and the BKSA if you kite both land and water.

I believe the RPKA (RAF) have been discussing land kiting for some time with the CLSC and now hopefully the BKSA is looking into this as well.

Aberavon is the most used beach in S.Wales especially for after work sessions because of it's easy access of the M4

Hope this helps, any questions pleas ask

oh and welcome to Sunny S.Wales afro

Thanks for the info!

I am not overly worried about land boarding - I have fields for that!

At this point I would much prefer to get out on the water, its been far too long.

So I can presume that if, hypothetically speaking, there was wind next week (I'm not going to jinx any long range forecast!) there would more than likely be others out at Aberavon?

Sounds like Aberavon it is then.. Just got to work out how to get to the beach Wink
