Being new to South Wales and having to look for work I'm curious to know what jobs other kiters do especially where it can help you to maximise time on the water .... or am I just dreaming...? Doing Ian's washing and ironing full time is not an option....

Yep, sounds like Dreaming! Not to worry, I do a lot of it. I am totally office bound and work 9-5...... Que the song! However Im in a team that help people, so I've organised the activity team to take some clients sea fishing routinely... Then In the next breath, told them to put in for funding for a couple of kites! Although i am office bound, i think it is my duty to pay them a visit to make sure their practicing health and safety assessments...... Well of course I will by chance have my kit in the car when doing a spot check! ... What kind work u considering? Maz

somethig with flexi hours is good, that way ou can get sessions right thru the winter. We can pretty much start and finish when you want. Most govt departments are going that way . Flexi or self employed.

Thanks for the replies guys. I pretty much thought I was dreaming, but hey, a girl can dream.... Sorry Ben, we don't need any plastering doing. I've not seen any local jobs advertised doing flexi hours which would be perfect. I'm in a bit of a blip I suppose having given up my last job to come here but now wondering whether I should try to do something entirely different from the public sector admin jobs I've had, but of course maximising kiting time too. Somewhere sunny to teach kitesurfing..... hmmm??? Though not sure Ian would be impressed with me taking the kites away...

You want something that doesn't take up too much time during daylight. Have you considered crime, or how about writing a novel, permanant night shifts, working behind a bar, member of the European Parliament? Something self employed is probably best.

Its either got to be work in the watersports industry or an eternal student. Everyone always says students don't work hard! Sadly I do a degree which means I do work, although I now have cheeky mondays and fridays off timetable I've got my job for next year planned-coastal defence and marine engineer! Hmm.... what a shame it looks like I'm at the beach...

lloyds tsb are taking staff on in their contact center in pencoed j35 on the M4 lots of diffrent shift patterns avalable. check out the job center website for how to apply. if you do go for it give me a shout to advise you how to do better and what to expect in the interviews. its a customer service role with sales targets. no cold calling, incoming calls only. but your expected to sell products during th calls . its not hard work and it does give plenty of diffrent time free for the beach.

Hi Sophie, Nice to hear from another fellow female kiter. I hope you can take your kites to the beach when you're monitoring the coastal defences...!

Thanks for the tip. I've checked the website but it's coming up with no vacancies. I've seen a couple of other jobs I'm going to try for but just hope the queue is not too long.
The job ads on the IKO website are looking good each day.....
Anyway, enough of this work talk, it's nearly the weekend. Where's everyone going out to play....??? |

The bristol uni lot are going to play at llangennith on saturday, so there will lots of people attempting to landboard and fly kites since its the first trip this year. I'm not sure I can be bothered to drive all that way, so may end up at porthcawl if other people are about. Isn't llangennith supposed to be really wavy? I'm a struggling beginner so that doesn't sound like much help!
