PostSubject: lift share suggestion, save on fuel, get a community started   Sat Oct 10, 2009 10:14 pm

we all travel to the beach most weekends many of us driveing past each others homes or very close by. even if its just 10 or 15minutes off the M4.

I dont know about everyone else but i go to the beach in my mondeo and most of it is empty. i can easily fit another person with kit in ther and have managed two other with full kit for a weekend in there as well.

why waste all this money on fuel when we can share the cost and some of the boaring journy.

this is an idea to get us to not only save a bit of cash but also to get a bit more of a community going as well. too many times ive gone to the beach and despite speaking to many of you ill happily admit i dont know your names (sorry ive got a bad memory possibly from hitting the sand too hard too many times)

me and rich (kraftyone) were talking and both agreed that ne of the problems we have here is that there is such a huge selection of beaches and locations that there might be a huge amount of flyers but you would never know because were all spread out soo much.
im thinking of getting us all flying or as many as possible flying on the same beach at the same time.
ok things could get a bit crouded in some spots but the better riders know how to get upwind and stay there or avoid the ones who are struggeling.

wouldnt it be nice if you got to the beach and we all knew each other by name and face, got some stoke going and then pushed each other to ride that bit better, regardless if you like shredding sand, waves, going huge and looping big ones or just cruise around. everyone likes a bit of an ego boost when they are doing well and a bit of banter when you stuff it up.

i appreciate that a few people may not like the idea of leting someone else into their car or van that they dont know, ive happily opend my door and given beds to flyers i dont know its a good way to meet new people and have a giggle at the same time. and never once has the person turned out to be a mad axe man.

like i said just an idea to get us all flying in the same area and to get a real community going.

let me know what you think

PostSubject: lift share.   Sun Oct 11, 2009 4:05 pm

hi wenglish
sound idea. i travel from pontardawe, about 8 miles from swansea. chatted to maz & (sorry, forgot his name already), guy from fforest fach i think. maz from llanelli. we all go to aber. us three are all beginners of different abilities and this would b a good way of encouraging us all to support each other,& maybe get out more. i have the smallest car (ka) but hey ...thats what the back seats are for...is`nt it? crap week ahead ( wind wise) but i`ll keep watching da forecasts. it would also be useful if we all started useing the forum to let others know when we`re out.
hope to meet up with other kiters soon. cheers keep smileing Blim geek

Sounds good to me. I'm near Newport, got a biggish estate car.

"Aww sorry luv, can't decorate the bathroom this weekend, already arranged to meet some people... " definately got possibilities!

Sounds a good idea, I'm from Bristol so most places are a reasonable trek and I'm a poor student! As for a ka not being able to fit much in, I don't have any pictures but it is possible to get 3 kiters and kit in, with some serious packing. I'm planning to roof rack mine in the near future, as boards are the biggest problem.

well im a landboarder so you have the added problem of the wasted space of the wheels and stuff that never pack around stuff propperly. but it sounds like we have enough intreast to get this going.
i travel from teh rhonddda J34 on the M4 and am more than happy to pick people up on the way to the beach. or if you dont mind picking me up on your way i can be collected from J34 just of the roundabout.
