| Just been dropped a text to say a 07 Audi A4 was stolen from the car park at aber today (whilst owner was kiting) - no more info sorry but thought I'd give a heads up... keep your eyes peeled and challange any thing that looks dodgy (preferably with a big stick!) |

| I've heard of a few surfers who have lost their cars because some scum bag managed to break into one of these key lock things; don't know if that's what happend here. Anyway, I have heard that the insurance company can argue that they're not liable as the keys were left with the vehicle. Personally, I use two Aqua Packs, one inside the other in case one leaks, and take the key with me under my wetty. Any one else any good anti theft stratagies? Could always walk to the beach I suppose! |

| Its happened before , if the insurance find out they wont pay. Aquapac is the way to go. The aber scum have obviously found a quick and easy way of detaching these locks. |

| Someone had their van broken into a couple of weeks ago. Damage done to the lock and door skin. Nothing taken so I guess the f***ers must have been disturbed. It's a shame - had the best session I'd had in ages at aber on sunday. There are better beaches, but at least at aber, if it's blowing, you won't be out on your own! |

| dont kid your self it just aber. It rife at rest (70 cars a year go on average) Caswell is bad and I know of several broken into at Pembrey both in the cheap seats and in the park its self ! The scum KNOW that surfers etc are 1)out on the water for at least an hour or so ( ihave found them going thru my bag on the beach before now !) 2) might have left their keys on the vehicle somewhere 3) might have some expensive goodies in the car |

We've had a couple of extra keys cut for our vehicle so we can wear them under our wetsuits. If you can still get into and switch on your car the old fashioned way, i.e. with a key and not the fob, then this is a good option and it's doesn't cost very much to get keys cut, whereas replacement electric key fobs cost a bomb.
Maybe filling up with petrol on the way to a kite session is not a good idea. The crooks can't get far on a near empty tank!
It sucks big time that you can't look forward to a good kiting session without fear of having your car broken into or missing when you get back. |

| I had my van stolen from Aber whilst I was out kiting just over two years ago. I was also using one on those 'keysafe' things. Neither the van or any of the kit within was ever recovered. For anyone who hasn't worked it out yet based on this latest and other incidents... DO NOT LEAVE YOUR KEYS ANYWHERE IN OR AROUND YOUR VEHICLE!
DO NOT USE A SO CALLED 'KEY SAFE' - THEY ARE ANYTHING BUT SAFE
TAKE YOUR KEYS WITH YOU!Some people complain that an aquapac inside the wetsuit is uncomfortable. Let me tell you it's not as uncomfortable as losing your effing ride and several thousand pounds worth of kit! My sympathies go out to the latest unsuspecting victim. Take care and be vigilant kiddies... |

| I never leave my keys in my pocket when im flying they are with my kite but heres the thing, im on land and my kite is nearly always close by. normally within 20 secconds i can be next to it. If it will help everyone feel safe, dump your kit with mine and ill keep an eye on your gear whilst your on the water. its easier to keep an eye on stuff if its all together as well. however ive just secured a spray tray and have a wet suit coming for christmas so i will also be on the water occasionally but not full time, we all know landboarding is much cooler |

| me rich and pete always leave all our kit together it just makes more sense. there is nearly always someone not flying and a big pile of kit its going to make sure that nothing get accidentally picked up as lost kit by a nice dog walker as well (or dirty theaving chav) its ok im actually realy useless on the water, i struggle with waves, upwind is something that happens but i dont know how and i never land a trick i just crash, but ill give it and give you all a laugh at the same time. Quite a lot of you are very handy on the water i was watching some at the weekend, nice jumps and some good wave riding was going on. sadly i forgot that i had a program on my memory card so didnt capture as many photos as i would have hoped. |

| From the BBC surf forums ------------ Message 1 - posted by Waxmate (U12267282) , Yesterday A guy visiting from Newcastle had his blue T5 Van stolen from Rest Bay car park today. He had come to South wales to purchase new seats for the van and it contained £1000 cash! He went in for a surf and put his keys UNDER THE WHEEL ARCH!!! I saw him hand on head, in wetsuit and carrying board. I was gutted for him. CRIMINALS ARE TARGETING SURFERS!! so dont leave the keys with the vehicle and make it easy for them. When was the last time you saw someone hiding their keys. I bet it wasn't long ago. WE all need to wise up. grrsteamdoh |

| Just seen a post on the uni kitesurf forum. Apparently another car had its locks drilled out the other week at aber and everything stolen from inside it, including their clothes! Not cool... |

| Amazing that no one ever sees anything, usually plenty of people about and it's right in front of the houses. |
